Well, let me share this with you.

Let's assume that Mr. A is a very successful proprietor of one of the best private schools in the country. Now, Mr. A knows that he knows what it takes to run a successful school, and he also knows that there are many unsuccessful proprietors and aspiring proprietors who would give an arm to know his secret.

So an idea comes to Mr. A to monetize this secret. He then decides to create a digital course, (either an ebook or a video series) and he titles it "The Secret of Running a Successful School in Nigeria". You would agree with me that any school owner who knows about Mr. A and his school would not think twice before purchasing the course.

Meanwhile, after creating the course, Mr. A realizes that he is too busy to sell the course by himself and therefore, he needed help to get it to the right people. That's where an *affiliate* comes in. You as an affiliate would then agree to help Mr. A sell his course on the grounds that for each copy you sell, half of the money goes to you.

That's basically what affiliate marketing is about. It is the same business model that Jumia, Amazon, Uber and many other businesses you may know are banking on.
