The Kalanchoe is an amazing plant famous for the tiny white flowers that bloom and for the oval-shaped leaves present in it. There are around 100 species of the plant; however, the most famous species of the plant is the kalanchoe blossfeldiana, also known as the window’s thrill, which is quite famous as a houseplant. The flowers of this plant are also present in other hues, such as red, pink, yellow, and orange.

If you are interested in adding this wonderful plant to your house, then you need to know about the correct care of the Kalanchoe Plant, so that this plant can thrive and elevate the appearance and vibe of your house.

Caring for the Kalanchoe Plant

It is not very difficult for people to care for a Kalanchoe plant, as it thrives well with certain basic tips and conditions. The main conditions that you need to understand for the growth of this plant are:

  • You should choose loose, loamy, and well-draining soil for the plant, a mix that is also used for succulents.

  • You should keep the plant in a warm indoor location where it receives bright yet indirect light, or you can also place it in an outdoor location with direct sun with protection in the afternoon.

  • Make sure that the soil dries out completely between waterings for better growth.

  • If you are storing the plant inside, you need to fertilize once a month.

Light

Kalanchoe likes plenty of light indoors, think bright but not direct sunlight. If you’re planting them outside, stick with partial shade or full sun. Just make sure they get some relief in the afternoon so they don’t get roasted. If you notice the stems stretching or getting leggy, that’s a sign they’re craving more light.

Soil

For indoor kalanchoe, use a soil mix that drains well; half regular potting soil and half cactus mix works, or you can go with something like 60% potting soil and 40% perlite. If you’re planting outside, opt for loamy or sandy soil to keep their roots happy and dry.

Water

These plants are pretty low-maintenance when it comes to watering. Every few weeks is usually enough, and letting the soil completely dry out between waterings helps avoid root rot. They really don’t like sitting in soggy soil.

These are the basic details that you need to know about the growth and care of a Kalanchoe plant, whether you are keeping it indoors or outdoors.
