Mind the things you say to people

One time I was down with a fever and unable to go to the chemist to buy drugs. When the sickness started becoming severe, I decided to drag my legs outside to see if I could find someone to get me medications from the chemist. I called this young boy of about 13 years to buy me some drugs. He stays around the neighborhood and was rushing somewhere. When I asked him where he was going, he told me he wanted to buy onions for his grandmother, whom he stays with. I asked him if he could buy me some drugs from the chemist on his way back. He said yes and collected the money. He returned shortly after with the drugs but I didn't see him holding onions. When I asked him why he didn't buy his onions he said to me. "I will rush now to get it, sir." "Won't your grandmother be waiting? Hope she won't be mad at you?" I asked. "No sir. I will rush now." I thanked him and went inside. That evening he came knocking at my gate. When I came out, I saw him holding a plate. "I told my grandmother that you had a fever and I bought some drugs for you. She said I should come give you this locally made pepper soup. She said it will send the fever parking." I laughed. I collected the plate of pepper soup and thanked him. Months later, I was at the provision shop when I saw the young boy buying a small bread and Lipton. He greeted me and I jokingly asked him if he wanted to take tea. He said no. He told me it was his grandmother who wanted to have tea. "She is not feeling fine, Aunty." "Have she taken any drugs?" "She is yet to. She says she needs something hot first." I asked him to pick a bigger bread and bought some milk for his grandmother. Together we went to her house. Mama was down with malaria. I suspected it because of the symptoms. I insisted we took her to a lab. After some tests, it was diagnosed that she had malaria and typhoid. I bought Mama some drugs and took her home. When we were home I told Mama. "Mama, ensure you take your drugs. Once you take the first and second dose, it will send your sickness parking." She remembered what she had told her grandson to tell me that day and she chuckled. When someone does good to you, do good to them as well. Only then will the sweetness of goodness be worth doing. My name is Jane 💋
