It's International Women's, Day 2024.

Women are pivotal part of our society charged with various roles to contribute to our lives. It is our collective responsibility to ensure our women are empowered to participate and contribute their quota in the development of our society both on national and international levels.

In the spirit of celebration, we appreciate all the women all over the world especially from Biafraland.

Here is a list of notable Igbo women who have made exploits in their fields of endeavor both home and abroad:

1: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, most influential African woman. DG, World Trade Organization.

2: Chimamanda Adichie, an international award winning author.

3: Chika Nina Unigwe is a Nigerian-born Igbo author who writes in English and Dutch.

4: Arunma Oteh, was the Treasurer and a Vice President of the World Bank.

5: Oby Ezekwesili, Chartered Account, former Vice President for the World Bank's Africa Office.

6: Uju Ifejika CEO Brittania U, one of the richest woman in Africa, the only woman in oil exploration in Nigeria.

7: Nkechi Obi -Techno oil and gas.

8: Kimberly Anyadike, first African American youngest pilot.

9: Chinyere Kalu, MFR is the first Nigerian female commercial pilot and the first woman to fly an aircraft in Nigeria.

10: Dame Winifred Akpani -Northwest petroleum and Gas

11: Stella Okoli -Emzor Pharmacitical leading Pharmaceuticals company in Nigeria.

12: Udo Okonjo, CEO Fine and Country Nigeria leading Real Estate developer.

13: Mrs. Ifeoma Esiri is a co-founder and executive co-chair of ZODML, the biggest Nigeria shareholder in Stanbic IBTC

15: Mary Nnenna Njoku CEO IrokoTV

16: Genevieve Nnaji, top most influential African actress.

17: Stephanie Linus actress, film director and model.

18: Patience Ozokwor, top influential African actress.

19: Chioma Ajunwa went on to become the first West-African woman, as well as the first Nigerian, to win an Olympic gold medal in a track and field event when she emerged victorious in the women's long jump event at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, with a jump length of 7.12 meters

20: Chioma Igwe, is an American soccer midfielder. The San Mateo, member of the United States U-20 women's national soccer team.

There are too many well to do Igbo women in various careers such as in politics, sports, business, economics, education, health sector, military, entertainment, and religion.
