In a groundbreaking medical feat in Delhi, India, doctors at Ganga Ram Hospital have successfully conducted a bilateral hand transplant on a painter who lost both hands in a train accident in 2020.

The extensive 12-hour surgery, dubbed a miracle by various Indian news sources, involved intricately connecting each blood vessel, muscle, tendon, and nerve from the donor's hands to the recipient's arms.

The hands were generously donated by Meena Mehta, an administrative head of a respected school in South Delhi, who had committed to organ donation after her passing. Her kidneys, liver, and corneas have already positively impacted the lives of three individuals, and now her hands offer hope to the painter.
