Two guys from Maryland got caught running a scam on Apple, and now they could be looking at up to 20 years behind bars.

Here's how it went down: Haotian Sun and Pengfei Xue got their hands on fake iPhones from Hong Kong. Then, they sent about 5,000 of these knockoff phones to Apple and some repair shops, pretending they were real and needed fixing.

To cover their tracks, they faked serial numbers and used fake names to stay under the radar. All in all, they managed to pull off a whopping $3 million scam.

Now, they're awaiting their fate. The judge, Timothy J. Kelly, has set their sentencing for June 21.
