Benue State ALGON under the leadership of Hon Maurice Orwough, the Executive Chairman Guma Local Government Council, expresses profound sympathies and extend condolences to families of the recent sustained attacks by suspected herdsmen on innocent Benue Citizens. 

These attacks have caused enormous damage and carnage, leading to loss of lives and destruction of properties; ranging from Kwande, Katsina-Ala, Ukum, Logo to Gwer-West local government areas. 

Hon. Orwough states that as elected local government council chairmen, the Benue ALGON is concerned about the well-being, peace and security of every Benue citizen. 

He expresses that, the council chairmen are saddled with the responsibility of securing the people at the rural areas, and we will not relent in their efforts to ensuring peace returns to every Benue community. 

Hon. Maurice Orwough has strongly condemned the burning down of properties by youths in Naka Town, Gwer-West local government area, describing it as "utmost irresponsibility and criminality".

Benue ALGON acknowledges the proactive steps and strenuous efforts being taken by the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia since assuming office, ensuring the safety of all Benue citizens. 

These security measures have yielded positive results in some communities with pockets of attacks still being recorded in some parts of the state and it is regrettable. 

Benue ALGON commiserates with victims and families of these attacks, and feels deeply concerned, saddened and devastated with the wanton killings of innocent Benue citizens by suspected herdsmen. 

Hon. Orwough further mentioned that no amount of words can assuage the pain these families feel in this moment of sorrow and grief, but promise to work closely with the Governor, to ensure there is peace and stability in the rural areas. 

While Benue ALGON extends deepest sympathies to the families of this menace, government will continue to strengthen security to forestall further attacks and restore peace, order and stability in Benue communities
