So this woman shared with me the story of how she fell in love with a young man and dated him for 9 years of her life. She told me she began dating this man when she was 24 years old and their relationship ended when she was 33 years. She said to me. At the age of 26, I met a young doctor who wanted to marry me, but I told him I already had a man whom I was waiting for to return from abroad. This doctor left me and went on to marry my best friend. Today they have two kids together." She told me her relationship with the man abroad was the most promising relationship ever had. This man would send her money to give to his old parents who stayed in Kaduna state. His parents knew her very well and would call her their daughter. She would go to the house on weekends to wash their clothes, clean the house, and cook for them with the hope that she was doing this for her soon-to-be in-laws. When the man came to Nigeria to get married to her after 9 years of courtship, he took her to his parents to officially tell them he was getting married to her. The parents refused. They told the son that she was too old. "How can you be 34 and get married to a woman of 32? Didn't you see a 22-year-old girl to marry? Are you blind? Were you charmed?" The mother of the boy shouted in anger in the presence of the lady. She told him to end the relationship and cut off every tie he had with the girl.
