Former Special Assistant to the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Mr. Reno Omokri, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the suspension of Governor Fubara and the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. While responding to the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, Mr. Omokri made the following comments: Mer Omokri wrote: Dear Peter Obi, The word 'unilateral' means taking action without consulting other independent parties. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are independent arms of government, and they have said that the President consulted them. Furthermore, the President consulted with the Service Chiefs and the National Security Council before declaring a State of Emergency in Rivers State and suspending the Governor of that state. Thus, the President could not have acted unilaterally, and your statement is false and inflammatory. An example of the use of the word unilateral would be the following sentence: Peter Obi unilaterally declared war on the Muslim Ummah. Therefore, your use of the term unilateral either betrays a limited grasp of the English language or deliberate mischief. I understand that you graduated with a poor degree (2nd Class Lower) from an irrelevant course (philosophy), but at least you can take classes to improve your use of English instead of misleading Nigerians by making fallacious statements that do not reflect the reality on the ground.
