  • Real Madrid have decided against spending €100 million on high-profile midfield signings this summer, shifting their strategy toward more cost-effective options.

Having already secured defensive reinforcements with Dean Huijsen and nearing deals for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alvaro Carreras, the club’s focus is now on addressing the midfield void left by Toni Kroos’s retirement and Luka Modric’s impending departure after the FIFA Club World Cup in July 2025.

According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid’s sporting department believes their current midfield—comprising Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, and Arda Guler—is sufficient if fully fit, reducing the need for a blockbuster signing.

This stance rules out pursuits of expensive stars like Manchester City’s Rodri (€130 million), Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez (€120 million), and Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, who had been linked with the club.

Instead, Real Madrid are prioritizing VfB Stuttgart’s 24-year-old German midfielder Angelo Stiller, valued at €40-45 million, with negotiations ongoing for a potential cut-price deal.

This approach aligns with incoming manager Xabi Alonso’s vision of building a balanced squad with young, versatile players.
