The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has suspended 149 match officials following their alleged involvement in a betting scandal. The governing body’s Professional Football Disciplinary Board confirmed on Friday that suspensions between eight and 12 months had been imposed on 149 officials, while investigations continue into three referees. On Monday, the TFF announced at a press conference that 371 of the currently active 571 match officials in Turkish football have betting accounts and 152 of those actively gamble. TFF president Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu said on Monday that 10 referees had placed over 10,000 bets each, and one official had placed 18,277 bets.
